๐ŸŒŸ Cyber Basics STEM Camp via Video Game Development for Grades 6-12 at FTCC! ๐ŸŒŸ

This is a 5-day camp at Fayetteville Technical Community College, where students from Luther Nick Jeralds Middle School will dive into the world of cybersecurity fundamentals using Microsoftโ€™s Kodu Game Lab. Participants will simulate the 7 layers of the OSI modelโ€”the foundation of computer networkingโ€”while creating a multi-level game based on their newly acquired knowledge.

A recent career pathway seminar revealed that students are not choosing Information Technology as a pathway, possibly due to being born into a digital society where IT doesn’t have the same allure it had in the past. This camp aims to change that perception and create awareness of the vast opportunities available at FTCC. The college’s affiliation with the Carolina Cyber Defense Network is setting a precedent for other higher education institutions to follow.

Quote from Jeffries Epps, CEO of STEMERALD City LLC:
“The OSI Model is the key to understanding how to secure and defend any network. Exposing students early and often is the key to producing the workforce thatโ€™s desperately needed.”

Letโ€™s inspire the next generation of IT professionals! ๐Ÿš€
